Obituary of Robert Anthony Pezzano
Robert “Bob” Pezzano, age 85, peacefully passed away at his home on June 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, proud father, grandfather, veteran, and retired New York City Police Sergeant, he lived a full life defined by strength, loyalty, and deep love for those closest to him.
Bob was born in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. He was married to the love of his life, Rosemary, for 62 years. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, hard work, and unwavering commitment to one another. Their marriage was the foundation of their family and a beautiful example of loyalty and devotion.
Bob served his country in the Navy before joining the NYPD. He was strong, competitive, principled, and unafraid to stand his ground—a man's man in the truest sense. He carried himself with pride, discipline, and a strong sense of duty, which he exhibited throughout his lifetime.
Bob and Rosemary moved to Long Island shortly after he joined the police department, and they raised their family there. He was a proud and devoted father to his daughters, Lisa and Lori, and treasured his son-in-law, Roger, as a son. He was beloved by his grandchildren: Jake, Sophia, Ryan & Samantha, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
After retiring from the police department, he joined Rosemary in real estate sales. They eventually moved back to New Jersey to be closer to their grandchildren, a decision that reflected what mattered most to him throughout his life—being near and caring for the people he loved.
During his second career, Bob found joy on the golf course and in the kitchen, cooking for his family. He loved history and never shied away from a lively political debate. Quick-witted and sharp, he would have made an extraordinary trial lawyer. Anyone fortunate enough to know him understood that he was a force of nature. People naturally sought his approval—not because he demanded it, but because his respect meant something.
As a husband, father, grandfather, and protector, he was the cornerstone of his family, and his absence will be felt every day. A memorial gathering will be held for Bob on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM at Norman Dean Funeral Home, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ. Thereafter, an interment ceremony will be held at St. Cecilia’s Cemetery in Rockaway, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center at Middletown, NJ in honor of Robert Pezzano.
