Obituary of Joseph William Curran

Joseph William Curran passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on June 15, 2026, at the age of 85.

Born August 20^th, 1940, in Newark, NJ, to Joseph I. and Mary (Way) Curran, he moved with his family to Livingston, NJ, where he spent his childhood. Joe and his wife, Maureen, moved to Denville in 1962, where they raised their children. He has remained a lifelong resident.

He worked as an ironworker for Local Ironworkers Union No. 11 for 67 years. Having a lifelong passion for motorcycles, he also owned and operated Morris County Cycle in Mine Hill, NJ, for many years.

Joe was larger than life- opinionated, passionate, witty, funny, complex, and deeply human. He was not a man of half measures and never pretended to be someone he wasn’t. He filled every room he entered, not because he sought attention, but because his presence was impossible to ignore. His absence leaves an immeasurable void, but his memory will continue to bring laughter, reflection, and love to all who knew him. The family wants you to hold on to your memories and know his wishes and desires were, as was his way, made by him.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Maureen (Greig) Curran of Denville, NJ; his loving daughters, Colleen and her husband, Greg Salvato, of Branchburg, NJ, Roberta and her husband, Rick Grafe, of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, and Kimberley and her husband, Paul Philson, of Hampton Twsp., NJ; and his cherished grandchildren, Jeremy, Jacqueline, and Zachary Salvato, and Curran and Brenna Philson.
