A visit to the store by Alan, our appointed Train Station Minister, always uplifted my day. He'd stroll in close to the end of the work day, pull up a stool, sit across the counter from us (always with a large soda) and chat. Not about small stuff. He asked real questions and listened intently, but he never preached. He accepted Dave & I for who we were. I liked that about Alan.
I'm going to miss this unique, genuine, kind and gentle person. Once again, another taken before I was finished. I wish I had one last opportunity to say "thanks for the visit. It was great to see you."
Rest in eternal peace friend.
Thanks for riding the Train of Life with me.

Pastor Alan, anyone could see the passion that you brought to your ministry; leading several churches over your career. I am thankful for the 12 plus years that you have led FMPC in Dover and we were able to celebrate your 50th Anniversary of your Ordination with you. You are missed. Using your phrase "Well Done Good and Faithful Servant."
Condolences to all of his family and friends.

Alan was a dear friend and neighbor at Berkshire Hills in Denville. He was unfailingly cheery and kind. Each Sunday, I'd see him dressed up and looking sharp as he left to minister wherever he was needed. I will miss his smile and friendship. My condolences to his family.

I'm saddened to hear of Alan's death. He was a very significant person to me during my time growing up in the Presbyterian Church of Toms River. He was instrumental in helping me discern my own call to ministry. In subsequent years he and I were colleagues in more than one New Jersey presbytery. "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Alan was a high school classmate, a member of the Presbyterian Church of Livingston youth group, and we served together in ministry at the Toms River Presbyterian Church. Alan was a caring pastor, spirit-filled teacher and preaching.
His face would light up when he would meet friends, family, and even strangers.
I will miss our discussions of biblical passages and every day events.
I am grateful for his friendship through the years. I thank God for him.

Dear Alan, we will miss you so much. We, the former members of Lincroft Presbyterian Church, remember when you came to us as an interim pastor. You kept our spirits up and our souls together, on the right track. But we will never forget how you so ingeniously orchestrated our meetings. Because when it came time to vote, you’d always say “All in favor say “yes”. All opposed say “I’d rather do it myself!“ Yeah, you showed us how to keep together and keep on trucking!!
We’re really gonna miss you, old man ❤️

A forever friend! I’ve known Alan since high school and always quick to lend an ear and share challenges, opportunities and friendship. His spiritual support and service to our Lord and Savior was unsurpassed. Always enjoyed time with Al be it back in Livingston the early days, Dubuque later on and keeping in touch over the later years. Rest in Peace my friend! My condolences to his family and many other friends whom will miss him as much as I.

Alan was a good friend who I met accidentally many years ago just before a Palm Sunday. After a while we became friends. We met often during the week, and he even came to our home once to hang out with us on our deck one summer. We had many laughs or cried over lost friends and family members. He loved serving his church and always made a joke that he was there as long as they wanted him. Seems they never wanted to let go of him till the very end. Though I have not seen him since last year due to my travels, we kept in touch and our friends kept us updated as to our lives.
Alan was a devoted minister to many including friends. He will be dearly missed both by myself, my wife and all of our mutual friends along with those we don't even know.
My hope is when he entered heaven the greeting he received is Well Done Good and Faithful Servant. And indeed, he was a faithful servant to the Lord.
Rest well my friend and dont wait for me. I will get there at some point to see you again. Till then enjoy the grave of God.
