In loving memory, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mary Ann Castellano, who departed from this world on May 9, 2026, in Denville. Mary was born on December 9, 1951, in the vibrant borough of the Bronx, New York, to her devoted parents, Steven and Edith Dirga. Her journey through life was marked by a deep sense of compassion and an unwavering dedication to friendship and family.
Mary's life was a tapestry of love and kindness, woven together by her generous spirit and her innate ability to connect with others. She spent her career as a dedicated secretary at Picatinny Arsenal, where she retired in 1995 after many years of diligent service. Her colleagues remember her not just for her professionalism but for the warmth and positivity she brought to the workplace every day.
Mary's passions extended into her personal life, where her love for cats, books, and photography was evident to all who knew her. Her home was a sanctuary for her feline friend, her cat was cherished and treated as family. Her love for reading transported her to worlds beyond, fueling her imagination and enriching her understanding of the world.
A devoted wife, Mary shared 42 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Angelo Castellano. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering mutual support. Angelo, along with their many loving friends, remains a testament to the profound impact Mary had on those around her.
Mary was known for her caring nature and her ability to befriend everyone she met. Whether through a kind word, a listening ear, or a simple gesture of kindness, she touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. Her friendships were a testament to her genuine interest in others and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued and understood.
As we gather to celebrate Mary's life, we are reminded of her warmth, her laughter, and her unwavering love for those she held dear. Her legacy is one of kindness, love, and an enduring commitment to friendship. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to inspire us to live with the same grace and compassion that she exemplified every day.
Hours of public visitation for Mary are scheduled for Thursday, May 14th, from 3 to 7 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 15th, at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Myer’s Ave, Denville, NJ, followed by an entombment service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery located at 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ.
