Obituary of Tom Abline

Please share a memory of Tom to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Thomas Abline, 76, of Sussex County, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, leaving behind a life defined by the simple pleasures that make life meaningful.

Born in 1949, Tom was the youngest of seven children, a role that shaped both his character and his place within a large and loving family. He was predeceased by four of his siblings and is survived by his brothers, John (Mey) of Manchester, Ron (Dee) of East Brunswick, sister-in-law Diane and brother in law Fred McManus of Florida with whom he shared a lifelong bond rooted in shared memories. Growing up in a busy household instilled in him a deep appreciation for family, something he carried with him throughout his life.

At the heart of Tom’s life was his beloved wife of 32 years Marie, with whom he shared a deep and enduring partnership built on love, trust, and mutual respect. He was also a devoted brother and a caring uncle to his 21 nieces and nephews including 4 nephews who predeceased him. Each held a special place in his heart.

Tom had a lifelong passion for sports, a love that brought him both excitement and connection with others. Baseball was his first love, and he was a dedicated and loyal fan of the New York Yankees. He followed the team with enthusiasm through every season, celebrating victories and standing by them through challenges. He was an avid supporter of the New York Giants and the New York Rangers, rarely missing a chance to watch a game. Sports were more than a pastime for Tom they were a source of joy and conversation. He was also known to never miss the opportunity to sing and dance to his favorite song “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy”.

Tom was employed by 3M for many years, and later became a security guard for Wisdom Protective before retiring in 2022.

Those who knew Tom will remember his thoughtful nature, and quiet sense of humor. He valued the simple moments time spent with loved ones, familiar routines, and meaningful conversations. He did not seek attention, but his kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Tom’s life was a testament to the importance of finding joy in everyday moments. He will be dearly missed by his brothers, John and Ron; his nieces and nephews; and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Though he is no longer with us he will continue to resonate in the lives he touched.
