Obituary of Alan Andreasen
Alan Andreasen, of Denville, passed away peacefully at home on March 30, 2026, one week after the passing of the love of his life, his beloved wife Kathy.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 6, 1947, to Knut Andreasen and Helen Olsen, Alan lived a life defined by service, loyalty, love, and devotion to family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was deployed to Vietnam. After returning home from the war, Alan began a long career with New Jersey Transit, where his strong work ethic was evident throughout his years as a signalman
Alan’s greatest blessing in life was finding his soulmate, Kathy. The two were married in their backyard in Denville in the fall of 1976, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, laughter, and unwavering commitment. Together they shared their entire lives in the same home in Denville, creating countless cherished memories.
Over the years, Alan and Kathy shared many adventures together. In earlier years, they especially enjoyed diving and snorkeling during their travels, creating memories that lasted a lifetime. Alan also loved riding his Harley and especially enjoyed riding motorcycles with his brother Donald. Alan was also an avid gardener and loved to share his harvest with friends. Together, Alan and Kathy enjoyed the simple happiness of spending time with their beloved pets and each other.
After Kathy’s passing following a brief illness, Alan’s heart soon followed hers, and he passed away just one week later. Their love was one that endured beyond this life.
Alan was predeceased by his parents, Knut Andreasen and Helen Olsen, and by his brother, Donald Andreasen.
Alan is survived by his loving daughter, Holly, and his three grandchildren, Alicia (Shawn), Derek, and Easton, as well as a future great-granddaughter, Scarlet, expected to arrive in just a few days; his sister, Barbara Suydam; his brother, George Carlson; loving cousins from Hollywood, Florida; and nieces and nephews from Long Island.
He will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and great sense of humor.
A service will be announced at a later date.
