Obituary of Robert J. Larsen

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert John Larsen passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and craftsmanship that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Robert was born on October 6, 1944, to John and Emma Larsen in Jersey City, New Jersey. His early years were spent in North Bergen before his family settled in Parsippany, where he was raised alongside his brother, John. It was during his time there that Robert met the love of his life, Edie. Shortly after graduating in 1961, the two were married, beginning a remarkable journey together that spanned more than 64 devoted years; a true testament to their enduring love and partnership.

After earning his associate’s degree from RCA Institute in New York, Robert built an accomplished career with Casio America, where he rose to become Senior Vice President. A pioneer in the company’s keyboard department, he played an instrumental role in shaping its success and innovation.

Robert and Edie made their home in Denville, where they lovingly raised their two daughters. Family was the cornerstone of Robert’s life, and he took immense pride in his role as a father. He treasured coaching his daughters in their many sports and never missed an opportunity to support and celebrate their achievements. The joy in his life only grew with the arrival of his grandchildren, and later, his great-grandchild, each of whom brought him immeasurable happiness.

Robert and Edie shared a passion for travel, exploring the world together and creating lasting memories in countless places. Whether it was a relaxing weekend at the Jersey Shore, a trip to the Bahamas, or one of his treasured trips to Italy with the whole family, Robert believed that time spent with loved ones was life’s greatest gift.

A true “jack of all trades,” Robert was known for his remarkable skill and willingness to lend a helping hand. A talented carpenter, he could often be found building, fixing, or improving anything that needed attention—whether for his own home or for friends and neighbors. His generosity and kindness left a lasting impact on his community.

In his retirement, Robert continued to share his talents and love of helping others through his work at Home Depot. There, he became a beloved member of the team and a trusted guide for customers, earning numerous Homer Awards in recognition of his dedication and outstanding service.

Robert also had a lifelong passion for music. As a child, he mastered the accordion, and later in life, he became an accomplished keyboard player—blending his love of music with the very industry he helped shape professionally.

Above all, Robert will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his generous spirit, and his ability to bring warmth and wisdom into every room he entered. His legacy lives on in the lives of the family he leaves behind; his beloved wife, Edith “Edie” Larsen, his daughters, Patricia Pilosi(Anthony), Melissa Guarino, his grandchildren, Anthony PilosiIV (Melissa), Nicholas Pilosi (Brianna), Michael Guarino IV (Marissa), Matthew Guarino, Marco Guarino, his great grandson, Colson Robert Pilosi, his siblings-in-law, Millie & Joe Cutaia, Carolyn & John Zeek, Patricia & Eddie Norton) Doris Spinelli, as well as a wealth of nieces, nephews, and friends. He is now reunited with those who passed before him; his parents, John & Emma Larsen, his brother, John Larsen, and his siblings-in-law, Judy & John Paulaskis, and Michael J. Spinelli III.
