Obituary of Gloria Jean Sponzilli
Gloria Jean (Cunha) Sponzilli, 84, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, at Alaris Health in West Orange, New Jersey.
Born in Newark, NJ, Gloria grew up in Essex County and spent most of her life rooted in the community she loved. She was a proud graduate of Grover Cleveland School in Caldwell, NJ, and worked for many years as a bank teller at Valley National Bank in West Caldwell, where she was known for her dedication and friendly demeanor.
Gloria had a lifelong love of music and movement. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music, and had a special fondness for the saxophone. A talented musician, she played the piano by ear, a gift that brought joy to family and friends. She also loved staying active and going for long walks. When relaxing, she enjoyed watching tennis and bowling.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James A. Sponzilli, in 1994.
Gloria is survived by her loving children, James R. Sponzilli and his wife Fen, and Donna Lee and her husband Robert; her cherished granddaughter, Julia Sponzilli; and many dear cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, followed by eulogies and shared memories from 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM, at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834.
