Obituary of Wayne Irwin Neumann, Sr.

Please share a memory of Wayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Wayne Neumann, Sr., 88, of Rockaway, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026.

Wayne was born on July 18, 1937, to Malcolm and Olive Neumann in Somerville, New Jersey. He was raised in Mount Tabor alongside his two sisters, Marilyn and Sharon, and graduated from Boonton High School. He went on to attend the New Jersey Newark School of Engineering, where he earned his associate’s degree in engineering—an education that laid the foundation for a long and accomplished career as a manufacturing engineer. In this position, he was brought into companies to streamline their process, before moving to another company. Over the years, Wayne brought his skill and dedication to several companies, including Curtiss Wright Aerospace Corp in Fairfield, NJ, from 1978 to 1983, Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT, from 1991 to 1995, then finally HK Metalcraft Manufacturing Corp in Lodi, NJ, from 2005 to 2012.

In 1958, Wayne married the love of his life, Elva Neumann. Together, they settled in the White Meadow Lake area of Rockaway, where they built a warm and loving home and raised their four children. Family was the center of Wayne’s world, and he poured his heart into being a devoted husband and father.

Wayne began every day with music. His love of music was deep and wide-ranging, and the soundtrack of his life included favorites by Elmer Bernstein, Leonard Bernstein, and Sarah Brightman, among many others. He was also an avid runner and a proud member of the Morris Striders running club. Wayne completed numerous 5K and 10K races and often returned home with a winner’s medal; a testament to his determination and work ethic. If there was one thing to know about Wayne, it was that when he set his mind to something, he followed through with discipline, effort, and quiet confidence.

Wayne possessed an extraordinarily generous heart. He supported many charitable organizations throughout his life and freely gave his time to causes he believed in, always looking for ways to help others.

After the passing of his beloved wife Elva in 2022, Wayne found comfort at home in the simple, joyful routine of feeding the birds and deer that gathered nearby; a task he embraced with the same care and consistency that defined his life. He also found comfort in his congregation at Parsippany Baptist Church that he has been a member of for many years.

Wayne Neumann, Sr. will be remembered for his devotion to family, his generosity of spirit, his kindness of heart, and his unwavering determination. He is survived by his children, Elva Neumann and her husband Louis Romano, Wayne Neumann, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Roger Neumann, his granddaughters, Allison Nicole Neumann and her husband Ryan, Tiffany Ashley Neumann, his siblings, Marilyn (the late Jerry) Vanderhof, Sharon Griggs, as well as a wealth of friends and colleagues who will remember him fondly. We take comfort in knowing that he is reunited in Heaven with those who passed before him; his beloved wife, Elva Neumann, his daughter, Diana Neumann, and his parents, Malcolm and Olive Neumann.

If you would like to contribute to Wayne’s memory in your own way, please consider making a charitable contribution to the Parsippany Baptist Church. Donations can be made via this link, or sent to Parsippany Baptist Church, PO Box 5365, Parsippany, NJ 07950.
