Obituary of Mary "Maureen" Regan
Mary “Maureen” Anna Regan (née Traynor) passed away peacefully at her home in Denville, New Jersey, on February 4, 2026. She was born and raised in Woodside, New York, to John and Katherine (O’Reilly) Traynor.
Maureen lived in Hampton, New Jersey, for many years before moving to Denville in 2016. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted member of the Third Order of St. Dominic in New York and worked as a secretary for the Catholic magazine The Torch.
Maureen had a joyful spirit and a wide range of interests. She loved gardening, music, and playing the violin, and she took great delight in Irish step dancing. Known for her outgoing personality, she was a great friend to all and had a gift for making people feel welcome and at ease.
She was predeceased by her brother, John Traynor, whom she loved dearly.
Maureen is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, John Francis Regan Jr. of Denville, NJ. She was a deeply devoted mother to John Francis Regan III of Somerville, NJ; Maureen and her husband Ken Tusim of Raritan, NJ; and Michael and his wife Lisa Regan of Millburn, NJ. She was a loving grandmother who delighted in every moment with her grandchildren, Olivia, Katie, and Grace Regan, and Matthew Tusim.
She is also survived by her siblings Catherine and her husband Eugene Gregory of Woodside, NY; Eleanor and her husband Frank Biasiolli of Charlottesville, VA; Charles Traynor of Cromwell, Connecticut; and her sister-in-law Kay Traynor of Hauppauge, NY, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834 (www.normandean.com).
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834. Interment will follow at the Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sparta, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Catholic Charities, reflecting her faith and compassion for others.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the aides from Express Home Care for the wonderful and compassionate care provided to their mother.
