Obituary of George M. Bargfrede
George Martin Bargfrede, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home on January 29, 2026, in Rainbow Lakes (Parsippany), NJ.
He was born in Jersey City on March 18, 1937, to George and Lillian (Meyer) Bargfrede and was raised in North Bergen, with his sister Woody (Lillian) and brother Chris. He married the love of his life, Joyce Smith, on December 1, 1962, with whom he enjoyed 63 years of wedded bliss.
George had three loving boys, George, Steve, and Randy, daughters-in-law Debbie, Denise, and Nora, and 8 grandchildren, Jim, Tom, Samantha, Kyle, Deven, Jenna, Erika, and Sarah that he loved more than anything and doted upon any way he could.
The most selfless, generous, and humble person any of us have ever known, nothing gave him more pleasure than giving whatever he could to make others happy. He was deeply loved for his kindness, warmth, and quirky sense of humor and his loving nature lives on in those he left behind.
His incredible passions for giving back and for any variant of America’s pastime were embodied by how he coached and positively impacted so many lives leading many winning Rainbow Lakes Softball and Mickey Mantle League “Lakers” teams. “Cheers” to Da’ Man who gave us so many great memories.
A private ceremony will be held in his honor.
Memorial Donations are being accepted in George’s memory to ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or by clicking here.
