Rosemary Tennis

Obituary of Rosemary Tennis

Please share a memory of Rosemary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Rosemary “Rosie” Tennis, 82, passed away on December 15, 2025, in Morris Plains, New Jersey.  She maintained her witty sense of humor and devilish smile until the very end.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Rosemary was the daughter of William and Eve (Lupia) Tennis. She grew up in Garden City, Long Island followed by brief moves to Kinnelon, NJ, Reston, VA and Doylestown, PA before landing in Monmouth County, NJ where she raised her children.  She always made lifelong friends with each move. She spent the last twenty years in Woodstock, Georgia where she retired in a community with wonderful neighbors.

Rosemary earned her Bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University and began her career as a teacher and later started her second career as a web master at IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) in Piscataway, New Jersey where she taught herself HTML. She retired in 2005.

Rosemary had a passion for politics, reading, photography and chocolate.  She was the official family photographer and rarely went anywhere without her camera.  She loved sharing her photos so much that she developed her own website - appropriately named www.TennisLbow.com  -  to update family and friends on life events before there was Facebook.  As soon as she joined Facebook her interest for politics exploded and, in typical Rosie fashion, she made more new friends by creating political groups where should would share witty memes.

Rosemary was fiercely independent.  You could not stop her from driving 14+ hours from Georgia to New Jersey two to three times a year or flying across the country to Oregon to visit her grandchildren.  She delighted in being there for their big life events – birthdays, first days of school, graduations, etc. with camera in hand, of course.

Rosemary was predeceased by her brother, William Tennis. She is survived by her loving children, Cindy (Dalotto) Callahan and Tada (Todd) Dalotto. She loved spoiling her three grandchildren, Tommy, Nicholas, and Ophelia.

Private services were held under the direction of Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834. Arrangements may be found at www.normandean.com
