Obituary of Joseph E. Neumeister

Joseph E. Neumeister passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on November 13, 2025.

Born and raised in Newark, NJ to James and Evelyn (Kauffman) Neumeister, Joseph spent his early years in Irvington and Springfield. In 2000 at his 30th high school reunion, he reconnected with an old friend who would later become his wife and life partner, where they built the best blended family together in the Cedar Lake section of Denville, NJ, where he made his home for the past 21 years.

Joseph attended art school, nurturing the creativity that would stay with him throughout his life. He worked at Exxon in Linden, NJ before serving for many years as Vice President of Linden Bulk Trucking, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of all who knew him. Joe was a coach and a proud father of Indian Princesses. A man of many passions, Joseph found joy on the golf course and was a proud member of both the Basking Ridge and Fiddler's Elbow Country Clubs. He also had a lifelong love of slot car racing, designing, painting, and bringing cars to life with an artist's touch. Known affectionately as "Noose" within the East Coast Retro Racing Club he helped create, he brought warmth, humor, and creativity to the community he cherished. Joseph was also a devoted NY Yankees fan and a lover of Jimmy Buffett, happily visiting numerous Margaritaville locations over the years.

Joseph leaves behind his beloved wife of 21 years, Linda (Hencoski) Neumeister of Denville, NJ; his loving daughter, Kristy, and her husband Matt Steiner of Manhattan, NY; his stepson Justin and his wife Danielle Bradford and his cherished granddaughter, Freya Bradford of Rockaway, NJ; and his stepdaughter Lindsey and her wife Danielle Bradford of Norwood, NJ; He held each of them close to his heart. Family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial visitation on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM at the funeral home.

Joseph will be remembered for his creativity, his zest for life and the love and kindness he shared so generously with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed. Memorial contributions may be made in Joseph's honor to the Randolph Regional Animal Shelter via www.inmemof.org.
