Obituary of John M. Cibor
John M. Cibor, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel. Born and raised in Hillside, NJ, John was the beloved son of the late John J. and Dorothy Cibor.
John lived in Hazlet for over 40 years, where he built a life filled with dedication, curiosity, and kindness. He earned his Associate’s Degree from DeVry Institute of Technology and later continued his education to receive a Bachelor’s Degree. John devoted over 30 years of his career to AT&T, Bell Labs, Lucent, and Verizon before joining Qualcomm in Bridgewater, NJ, where he worked for 12 years as a PCB designer. His expertise in electronics and printed circuit board layouts was highly regarded by colleagues and peers alike.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, John led an active and passionate life. He was an avid runner who enjoyed competing in half marathons and 10K races along the Jersey Shore. A lover of the ocean, he spent many happy days saltwater fishing and sailing his boat around the Sandy Hook shore.
John was also a devoted model train enthusiast. He shared his knowledge and joy for the hobby by working part-time in a local model train store and loved engines and cars.
At home, John was never without the companionship of his two Labrador Retrievers, Brody and Cooper, whom he adored like his own children. Known for his gentle spirit and willingness to lend a hand, John’s warmth and kindness touched all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he brightened.
John was predeceased by his parents, John and Dorothy Cibor; his brother, Thomas Cibor; and his fiancée, Mary Jo Kindzierski. He is survived by his cousins Martin Makin, Joseph Dunay, Jennifer Mackin and her son CJ Bakos, and Dennis Mackin and his wife Tara and their sons Brock and Finn.
