Obituary of Laura Dina Kimble
Laura Dina Kimble passed away peacefully in the arms of her beloved husband of 63 years, in the comfort of the home they shared in Rockaway Township on Saturday, November 8, 2025. She had shared 87 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.
Born in Paterson to the late Dorothy (Van Lenten) and Garry Huizenga, Laura was one of two children to bless the Huizenga household. She graduated from Morris Hills High School before starting out in the work force. She had worked for McGregor manufacturing company making clothing in Dover, and then became a secretary; first for Reaction Motors, Inc. and then at Picatinny Arsenal. It was during this time that Laura met the love of her life, Richard Kimble, at the former Telemark Diner. The two were wed on June 9, 1962 and they settled into the new house they had built to raise a family of their own. In 1965, Laura became a full-time Mom, and loved every second of it! She went back to work in the late 80’s when her youngest was in school. She started at Copeland Middle School in the White Meadow Lake section of Rockaway. She then went on to excel at Katharine D. Malone Elementary School as a Teacher’s Aide and Administrative Assistant.
A devout Catholic, Laura was a dedicated member of Saint Simon the Apostle Roman Catholic Church where she was active with the rosary society for decades. She was also a member of the Lake Telemark Women’s Club, where she forged everlasting friendships. Above anything else, Laura adored spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all. She was always there, to lend a hand, offer advice, or care for her loved ones. When she wasn’t with family, Laura enjoyed socializing with friends, reading and completing crossword puzzles.
Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Laura is now reunited in Heaven with her grandson, Stephen Kimble; her parents, Dorothy and Garry Huizenga; and her parents-in-law, Elizabeth “Bessie” and Leonard Kimble.
Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her beloved husband, Richard W. Kimble of Rockaway Township; her cherished children, Lorraine Pennino and her husband Gerald of Oak Ridge, Richard G. Kimble and his wife Karolyn of Oak Ridge, and Leanne Kimble of Boonton Township; her treasured grandchildren, Tyler and Lauren Pennino and Matthew, Kaitlyn, and Ryan Kimble; her loving sister, Dorothy “Dot” VanderMass; her caring sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Nazzaro; her dear nieces and nephews, Karen, Diane, and David VanderMass and Nicholas, Lisa, Amie, Cara, and Dean Nazzaro; and many other extended family, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends are welcome to visit with the family on Sunday, November 16th from 1 – 4 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 am at Saint Simon the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 1010 Green Pond Rd, Newfoundland, NJ. Burial will follow at Marcella Union Cemetery, 24 Timberbrook Road, Rockaway, NJ. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Laura’s memory to the American Cancer Society by way of www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation. In addition to the unforgettable memories held by her family, we invite those who knew Laura to share their favorite stories, memories, or words of tribute on normandean.com. We believe her legacy is best honored through the stories and experiences of all who were fortunate enough to know her; let her light shine bright for eternity.
