Obituary of John H Weeks

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John H. Weeks, of Denville, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 8, 1941, in Newark, NJ, John was the son of the late Harry and Dorothy Weeks. He was raised in Belleville alongside his brother Brian and sister Karen, and graduated from Belleville High School in 1960, where he met the love of his life, Patricia.

John and Patricia married in 1963 and settled in Denville the following year, where they built a beautiful life together. Blessed with a mechanical mind and a natural curiosity for how things worked, John found his calling in the manufacturing industry. Over the years, he worked in several capacities — from screw machine operator and mechanic to shop foreman at Severna Operations in Parsippany — where his skill, precision, and leadership earned the respect of his colleagues.

John’s fascination with machinery extended well beyond his work. He was a passionate car enthusiast who found joy in the beauty and craftsmanship of classic automobiles. He especially loved his 1937 GMC Pickup, and attending car shows, cruise events, and swap meets across the East Coast.

Above all, John’s greatest joy was his family. He and Patricia raised three wonderful sons, and together they shared countless cherished memories — especially during their family camping adventures that took them from the shores of Nova Scotia to the warmth of Florida.

John also had a lifelong love of animals, and his home was never without a loyal dog by his side. His gentle heart, kind spirit, and devotion to family and friends will be remembered by all who knew him.

John will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his warmth, humor, and the way he could fix just about anything — except, perhaps, the hole his absence leaves in our hearts. We take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with those who passed before him; his parents, Harry and Dorothy Weeks, his brother, Brian Weeks, and his sister, Karen Bilza. John’s memory is now carried on by those who survive him; his beloved wife, Patricia Weeks, his sons, Michael Weeks (Carmela), Thomas Weeks (Denise), Ted Weeks (Laurie), his grandson, Cooper Weeks, as well as many friends and colleagues.

If you would like to contribute to John’s memory in your own way, please consider making a charitable contribution to either the Tunnels to Towers foundation or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Memorial donations can be made via inmemof.org.

Hours of public visitation for John will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 3 to 7 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services, with a vigil service to be held around 6:15 PM. All are welcome to come and celebrate his life, and please leave a condolence, share a memory, or light a candle to continue to let John’s light shine!
