Obituary of Peter J. Longarzo, Jr.
Peter John Longarzo, Jr. of Parsippany passed away peacefully on September 24th. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather had shared 92 years of love, wisdom and unforgettable memories with family and friends.
Born and raised in Lyndhurst, NJ to the late Mary Kero and Peter J. Longarzo, Sr., Peter was one of two children to bless the Longarzo household. He graduated from Lyndhurst High School, class of 1951, where he met his best friend and future wife, Helen Catherine Mauro. Peter went on to excel with his education, completing one year of Blair Academy Prep School in 1952 before earning his bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University in PA. Peter and Helen wed on September 4, 1955 and briefly moved to Rutherford, NJ before settling into their forever home in Parsippany where they raised a family of their own.
Peter, a smart man and great provider for his family, worked in marketing and sales for a number of fortune 500 companies and later as a marketing vice president for a multinational Italian chemical company. Upon retiring, he worked as marketing and sales consultant.
Peter was an avid Giants and Yankees fan, often with a game on the TV screen. He enjoyed watching and playing sports, in High School and beyond. Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited in Heaven with his treasured son, David Longarzo; his son-in-law, Bob Greenfield; and his parents, Mary and Peter.
His legacy will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife of 70 years, Helen; his adored children, Diane Greenfield and Peter J. Longarzo III and his fiancé Susan Ward; his cherished grandchildren, Michael Longarzo and his fiancé Reiko Porter, Alaina Caldwell and her husband Ian, Ava Longarzo, Nicholas Greenfield and his wife Kathleen, and Sam Greenfield; his precious great-grandchildren, Jack and Siena Caldwell; his sister, Maryann Pizzutello and her husband Donald; his sister-in-law, Elaine DeNoon and her husband Richard Merklinger; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are welcome to visit with the family from 2 – 4 pm on Saturday, October 4th at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. All are welcome to join in honoring Peter’s memory. Please share a condolence, a cherished memory, or light a candle here to keep Peter’s radiant light shining forever.
