Sigrid Irene Bjelland passed away on September 16, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on March 21, 1936, in Haugesund, Norway, to Olaf and Jensine Bjelland, Sigrid’s life was one of resilience, passion, and dedication. She moved to the United States at the age of 21, and her journey became an inspiring testament to hard work, devotion, and grace.

Sigrid spent over 35 years working at PSE&G, where her dedication and commitment earned her the respect of colleagues and friends alike. Her thirst for knowledge led her back to school, where she earned her Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University, proving that it is never too late to pursue your dreams.

A proud Norwegian, Sigrid was an active member of the Nor Bu Lodge of Rockaway and the Sons of Norway. She also cherished her Lutheran faith and was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where she not only attended services but also shared her beautiful voice in the church choir. Sigrid was an accomplished singer, and her talent extended beyond the church. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines, a women’s choir based in Madison, New Jersey, with whom she performed and traveled, even competing in Hawaii.

Sigrid was known for her impeccable sense of style, always dressed to perfection with the finest accessories. Her love for fashion was matched only by her love of people and the connections she made throughout her life. She was a passionate bridge player, often found surrounded by friends enjoying the game and each other’s company.

A gifted writer, Sigrid’s love of words was evident in the poems she wrote, which captured the beauty of her life and the moments she cherished most. She had a rare ability to find inspiration in the everyday, leaving behind a collection of heartfelt reflections for those who knew and loved her.

Sigrid will be remembered as a woman of grace, wit, and warmth. She had an enduring love for her family, her faith, and her heritage, and she touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she influenced, the music she shared, and the poems she penned.

Sigrid is survived by her loving cousins, Louise Cluett-Thoresen (Roy), Ingrid Halvorsen, Gail Compitiello, Kenneth Halvorsen, and countless friends who will miss her dearly.
