Obituary of Laraine Gail Gilberti

Please share a memory of Laraine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Laraine Gail Gilberti, 78, of Denville, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on September 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Teaneck, NJ, Laraine was the daughter of the late Warren and Lillian (Vaccaro) Vietoris.  After graduating from Trenton State College, Laraine began teaching at Cresskill High School.  She took an extended hiatus to raise a family and returned to teaching later in life at the Morris Knolls night program and at a women’s shelter.

Faith and service were central to Laraine’s core.  She was an active parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary’s Church in Denville, a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Denville Fire Department, and a valued member of the Denville Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).  She was truly selfless in everything she did.

Laraine dedicated her life to her family and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.  Her life was a testament to the profound power of a mother’s devotion, a gift she poured into every day and shared widely.

Laraine was predeceased by her beloved son, Michael W. Gilberti, in 1981.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Albert Gilberti of Denville; her loving sons, Albert and his wife Natalie of Arlington, VA, and Dan Gilberti of Denville; and her cherished grandchildren, Albert and Lillian. She also leaves behind her dear siblings, Lillian McGuinness of Minnetonka, MN, and Warren Vietoris and his wife Kay of Alexandria, VA, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834. Interment will follow at Denville Cemetery under the direction of Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com

Laraine will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to her family and community, and the many lives she touched through her teaching and service.
