Gil listened to a story about a canoe journey I'd made up in Canada as a young man and then shared one of his own of canoeing with a friend from Long Island to Connecticut across the Long Island Sound, paddling long into the night, almost being run over by a tug boat pulling barges, but making it. He was like that - finding something that made him curious, and seeing if he couldn't do it. I'm grateful to have known him, and will remember him fondly. Even the liars poker games... :-)

Gil and I met through the American Legion Riders Charter of Post 391.
We would often run into Gil along our paths!
I’ll never forget the one year at our ALR picnic he asked me to sing with him,
I said sure why not we sang Jim Reeves he’ll have to go!
I will never forget what a good time we had!
May you rest in piece Marine!

Gil and I go way back as members of Cedar Lake and sometimes meeting Friday night at the club bar. We had a way of teasing each other that I will miss tremendously. I recently saw Gil as I videoed him for the Cedar Lake 100th anniversary. I guess I have to wait until I get to heaven for that motorcycle ride he promised me. We did an adventure one time on that bike that will never be forgotten. We traversed an unmarked Road, if you call it that, around split rock reservoir.
Gil loved getting my valentine cards and occasionally I’d get one back. He was a special friend and I will miss him dearly. My sincere condolences go to his family and those whose life he touched, especially Susan.

Gil, I knew you through Sue, from visits to her home, and from when you and Sue came to so many of our Ridgewood singer concerts. Always enjoyed looking out and seeing you both and I know you enjoyed most of the music very much. I recall you talking about how you enjoyed making music with your friends at some of the senior facilities.
I found a couple of photos, one with you setting a wood fire in a pit, and enjoying our dogs. Rest in peace, I thought you were a very pleasant thoughtful and helpful fellow.
