Please share a memory of Grace to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Grace Murtha, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, at the age of 87. A long-time resident of Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, Grace was known for her warmth, vibrant spirit, and the deep love she shared with her family and friends.

Grace was born on January 8, 1938, in Orange, New Jersey, to Arthur and Rose Kunz. She was raised in East Orange and graduated from East Orange High School before marrying William Murtha in 1959. The couple’s love story was one that spanned more than six decades, and together they raised their family in Mountain Lakes, where they made their home for over 57 years.

In Mountain Lakes, Grace became a well-known figure in the community. She was an avid tennis player at the Mountain Lakes Club and spent many hours enjoying the sport with friends and neighbors. Her passion for golf also took her to Peace Pipe Country Club, where she played with a great sense of camaraderie and joy.

Grace’s love for family was evident in everything she did. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, often sharing her wisdom and love for life with them. Her garden was another of her passions, where she could often be found nurturing the flowers that brought her so much peace and happiness. A devoted bridge player, she also enjoyed meeting with friends regularly to play and connect. Grace was a devout Christian who is now at peace with the Lord.

Grace Murtha leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the importance of family, and she will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who knew her. Grace is survived by her beloved husband, William F. Murtha, her children, Lorraine Lyness (Tom), W. Kevin Murtha, Ronald F. Murtha (Marija), Janet Waldron, her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Steven, Katherine, MaryGrace, Veronica, William, Quinn, Emmet, Erin, William, Tommy, Angelina, Linda, and her great-grandchildren, McKenna, Gray, Rourke, Tommy, Benjamin, Addison, James, Matthew, Michael, and Charlotte.

A celebration of life will be held a later date.
