Obituary of Theresa M. Rauscher
Theresa M. Rauscher passed away in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side in Denville on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. She had shared 77 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, priceless wisdom and unforgettable memories with family, friends, and students.
Born in Hackensack to the late Helen (O’Hara) and Thomas Reilly, Theresa was raised in New Milford. She graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township in 1965 before earning her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from William Paterson University. Theresa then went on to graduate from Montclair State University with a master’s degree in Guidance. She married her soulmate, George J. Rauscher on June 22, 1968. They began their marriage in Parsippany before settling in Denville to raise their family. She was a full-time mother, a wife, and teacher. Theresa was a devoted teacher at Randolph High School, teaching 11th and 12th grade Mathematics, for 33 years before retiring. She was a member of the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA). Above anything else, Theresa knew that life was about family, the memories that we make, the things we learn and the people that we meet. Throughout the years their family had helped countless children, this included a summer exchange program for high school students from France. Theresa was a remarkable woman, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend. She will be sorely missed and forever treasured in our memories.
Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her beloved husband of 57 years, George; her son, Brendon Rauscher and his wife Kelly Garris, and her daughters' Peggy Rauscher, Germaine Oudie, and Melody Howard; her many cherished grandchildren; and many dear extended family and friends.
