Obituary of Robert R Salinardi
With profound love and cherished memories, the family of Robert Rocco Salinardi announces his peaceful passing on August 31, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on January 14, 1934, in Hoboken, New Jersey, to Rocco and Camille Salinardi, Robert was raised as an only child. From an early age, he displayed the quiet determination and resiliencethat would define his life. He pursued his academic passions with distinction, earning a Bachelor of Science in Economics from St. Peter's University, followed by a Master’s in Higher Education Administration from Baruch College in New York City.
Robert dedicated his professional life to education and public service. He served with integrity and skill as Budget Director for Hunter College, a role that allowed him to combine his sharp analytical mind with his commitment to accessible education. In addition, he maintained a private accounting practice, helping individuals and families navigate their financial futures with trust and care.
In 1963, Robert married the love of his life, Katherine, after a chance meeting on a trip to Atlantic City. Together, they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and partnership. They raised their beloved daughter, Michele, with warmth and devotion, creating a family rich in tradition and close bonds. They had a loving marriage for almost sixty years.
Some of Robert’s fondest memories were made at the family’s shore house in Beach Haven, Long Beach Island. What began as a modest beach cottage blossomed under his and Katherine’s care into a treasured family retreat — a home-away-from-home filled with summer poker, bike rides, trips to the beach, andfamily laughter. It became a place adored not just by him but his whole family, creating precious memories.
In his leisure time, Robert found peace and joy on the golf course, walking the dog, reading, watching classic movies and using his computer, tenaciously never giving up on any task to which he set his mind. A true animal lover, Robert, had a special place in his heart for all creatures — especially dogs. In his later years, he adopted Maggie, a rescue dog who quickly became his devoted companion. He cared for her with unmatched dedication, walking her everyday and nursing her through cancer treatments as she grew in age. If you were lucky enough to hop in the car with Robert, you’d be listening to the music of his generation, and almost always his favorite, Frank Sinatra.
And though his passing brings us sadness, we take comfort in knowing that he is reunited in paradise with his wife, Katherine. Robert is survived by his beloved daughter Michele Beddow and her husband Dean, and his cherished grandchildren, Jonathan and Carolyn Beddow, his sister-in-law, Irene Sargent and her husband Harold, his nieces and nephews, Kerry, Dana, and Richard. His love for his family, his quiet strength, and his gentle wisdom will live on in their hearts forever.
