Obituary of Marie L. Fattorusso
Marie Louise Fattorusso passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville. She had shared 94 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, priceless wisdom, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to the late Elizabeth (Villano) and Vincenzo Landri, Marie was one of five children to bless their household. After graduating High School, she became a seamstress before finding her niche in retail. She had a successful career with Bamberger’s/Macy’s in Morristown, and later moved to Macy’s in Rockaway; she retired from retail, but she could do anything after over 30 years of hard work. Marie married the love of her life and her best friend, Joseph A. Fattorusso, on April 30, 1948. The exuberant couple settled down to raise a family of their own beginning in Brooklyn, NY and ultimately settling in Denville, NJ becoming a happy family of eight. Even though Marie worked for all of those years, her true calling was being a Wife, Mom, Grandma, Nanny, Nonna and lifelong Caregiver. That is where she thrived the most. Somehow, she managed to take care of not only the household, but also anyone else that needed it, and she did it with genuine compassion and a smile.
Marie was a devout Catholic her entire life and she proved it in the way she lived. A loyal parishioner of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Denville, Marie was active as a Eucharistic Minister, with The Senior Acolytes, on the Rosary Society, and on the St. Mary’s Council of Catholic Women where she made countless rosaries used all over the world. She was also a member of the Living Rosary Society. What a wonderful tribute to remember Marie with. Her faith in Jesus was unwavering; her kindness, hope, and consideration of others was pure. She was a guiding light on this Earth which means Heaven just got a little brighter with her there. Please know that anytime you are watching a Mets game, Marie will be shining down, watching with you, rooting for her favorite team!
Marie’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her adored children, Louis Fattorusso and his wife Denise of Conway, SC, Vincent Fattorusso and his wife Linda of East Stroudsburg, PA and Annette Wells and her husband Peter of Rockaway Township; her caring daughter-in-law, Karen Fattorusso of SC; her many cherished grandchildren and treasured great-grandchildren; her faithful pup, Dotti Fattorusso; and many dear extended family and friends. Marie now rests in eternal peace, reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, Joseph; her devoted sons, Anthony and Joseph; her precious great-granddaughter, Emily, and her mother, Dana; her parents, Elizabeth and Vincenzo; and her siblings.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join with the family on Friday, September 5th from 4 – 8 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, September 6th at 10 am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Mausoleum Service will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 East Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Marie’s memory by way of www.inmemof.org to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Denville. Please share a condolence, leave a gesture, or recount a favorite memory of Marie to honor her remarkable life and keep her light shining brightly.
