David Clement Lawrence, M.D. – Denville, New Jersey

 

David Clement Lawrence, formally of Short Hills, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ.  He was born on August 19, 1941 in Worcester, MA to the late Alfred C. and Agnes (Richmond) Lawrence. David was the only child to bless their household. He graduated from St. Johns High School in 1959 and from The College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, in 1963. David Received his Doctor of Medicine from Tuft’s Medical School in 1967. He then completed a surgical residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester.

 

          David served as a General Surgeon in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 until 1974. His Tour of Duty was served at Incirlik Air Base in Adana, Turkey, where he was accompanied by his wife and children. After leaving the Air Force, David did a fellowship in Colon & Rectal Surgery at the Lahey Clinic in Massachusetts. He practiced Colon & Rectal surgery for 30 years in Millburn, NJ, and was on the staff at St. Barnabas Medical Center and Overlook Hospital. After retirement in 2006, he moved to Denville and has enjoyed traveling, photography, and being an active member of the Denville Rotary Club.

 

          He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carolyn (nee Talbot) Lawrence; his caring sons: David Talbot Lawrence and his wife, Nancy and Christopher William Lawrence; as well as his 2 cherished grandchildren, Anna Caroline Lawrence and Ian Christopher Lawrence.

 

          A public visitation for David will be held on Sunday, August 24th from 1 to 4 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 25th at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Myers Ave, Denville, followed by an interment service at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Denville Rotary Club by way of www.inmemof.org would be greatly appreciated. Please light a candle, leave a condolence, and share your favorite memory of David here to continue to celebrate his life and let his light shine.
