Obituary of Roger Truex

Please share a memory of Roger to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Bert “Roger” Truex loving son, brother, husband, father, and most importantly grandfather passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025.

Roger was born November 17, 1939 in Moundsville, WVA to Agnes and Bert Truex where he grew up with five siblings. He was right in the middle, three older and two younger. He was known as the quiet one. He joined the Navy at 17. After being discharged he started his education at Pot State and eventually went on to graduate from WVU with an engineering degree and a job offer from Bell Labs in NJ. While at WVU he met and married Nora and moved to NJ in 1964.

He worked for Bell Labs for over 30 years until finally retiring. Toward the end of his tenure at AT&T he decided to go back to school for counseling. He received his degree as a drug and alcohol counselor that jumped started his next chapter. He started working for Raritan Bay Medical Center where he eventually retired again. He still wasn’t done. He worked a few more places as a counselor before retiring for good. Once retired for good, he and Nora took the word retirement seriously and moved to Ocean Grove, NJ to live at the beach.

He may have been known in his family as the quiet one which did translate into his own family but he always had an ear to listen or a hand to help. He will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Nora of 61 years and three children, Tosha (Jeff), Kevin (Frank), and Christina (Bill) and five grandchildren, Chelsea, Hayden, Jarron, Casey and Madeline. His younger brother Richard (Charlene) and sister Sandy (Denny) and many more nieces and nephews.
