Mary and Terry moved to Haskell, NJ a few years after my family did. My Mother was from Derry, Ireland, so they bonded as friends instantly. My Father always asked Terry to help with electrical problems at our house, and Terry always made the repair.
In 1990, I decided to make my first trip to Ireland on my own. Mary drove me (and my Mom as company) out to JFK Airport in New York City to get my flight to Ireland.
I promised Mary that I would try to visit her hometown of Carrickmacross, and I did.
The first two photos are of Carrickmacross in 1990. The sign with Carrickmacross was taken in 1997.
Rest In Peace, Mary.

Mary and her husband Terry were part of the St. Therese, the Little Flower Ministry held every Tuesday at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Mountain Lakes. Terry, his daughter Valerie and grand-daughter showed up on Tuesday and I asked "Where's Mary?" Terry said she died - and I was completely speechless. My heart and my husband's heart broke. We know she's in heaven and now we must pray for Terry - it's going to be very difficult for him. I met Mary at Goodwill a couple of weeks ago and she was in wonderful spirits - looking forward to the Bishop's arrival on September 21st to celebrate the Feast Day of St. Therese. Ray and I can offer our condolences and keep your entire family in our prayers. May Mary rest in peace - in Jesus' arms!! We will miss her terribly!!

Mary and Terry were part of the St. Therese Ministry and prayer service each and every Tuesday at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Mountain Lakes. She and Terry have been with us for 4 years. On Tuesday of this week I saw Terry, Valerie (Mary's Daughter) and granddaughter walk into the church. I asked "Where's Mary?" Terry said she died. My husband and I were speechless and shocked. We all know Mary is in heaven and now we must pray for Terry - that he have peace in his heart and able to cope with this terrible loss. Mary was so looking forward to seeing the Bishop on September 21st for the Feast Day of St. Therese. We will miss her terribly. God be with the family - give them comfort and strength at this very difficult time.

To Mr. Armstrong, Val, and my friend Terry,
I’ve always loved your family and the chances I had to be around you throughout the years. It was always something I looked forward to, full of laughs and cheeky banter. Upon hearing, my heart felt deeply for you all because we all know Mrs. Armstrong was truly one of a kind. She looks the same as she did 30 years ago when she would cook Terry and I sublime bacon breakfasts to cure us from the too much fun we’d had the night before. All I ever felt from Mrs. Armstrong was love, she was like an angel. Her spirit will live on amongst her family and everyone fortunate enough to know her and for that I’m grateful. My love and support for the Armstrong family is ever present.
Sincerely,
Cary and family

Mary was a truly beautiful soul—overflowing with love, kindness, and an unwavering warmth that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. A loyal friend and confidant, she made the world brighter with her generous heart and compassionate spirit.
Her deep love for animals reflected the tenderness she carried for all living beings, and her home was always a welcoming haven of comfort and joy. We will forever cherish the memories of our weekly visits, her comforting presence during life’s hardest moments, and the steadfast friendship she offered when we needed it most.
Though her absence leaves a profound void, her legacy of love, compassion, and grace will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Our deepest prayers and heartfelt condolences go out to her family and loved ones during this difficult time.
Rest peacefully, dear Mary. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

I met Terry, Mary and family just last year when they we're home in Ireland, I was told they we're home on a family holiday so I walk in on them at the Central Hotel in Belfast. I think it was the first time I met Mary with her family but after a short period I felt I had known them a life time. Now I am glad I met her and uncle Terry with their kids and grandkids that Sunday morning.
I will watch the service and pray for you all over the hard days ahead.

Dear Mr. Terry and Family,
We’re so sorry to hear about Ms. Mary. She was such a kind and gentle presence, and we’ll truly miss her sweet smile and warm hellos.
You and Ms. Mary have always felt like an extra set of grandparents to Parker. He’s grown up waving to you both from across the street, stopping over to see Maggie, and chatting on the steps. Those little moments meant a lot to him—and to us.
We’re thinking of you and sending so much love during this difficult time. Please know we’re right across the street if you need anything at all.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Danielle & Laura Sudak
