Obituary of Kenneth Eugene Wiley
Kenneth Eugene Wiley, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on July 10, 2025. Born on December 22, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kenneth was the son of James and Florence Wiley. He was raised alongside his three sisters in Westwood, New Jersey, and carried with him a deep love for his family and his roots throughout his life.
After serving in the Army during the Vietnam War, Kenneth graduated from Seton Hall University with a degree in accounting and went on to have a long and fulfilling career as an accountant at Kean University, where he dedicated much of his professional life. His meticulous work and steady presence made him a respected figure in his field.
In 1978, Kenneth married Mayumi, the love of his life, and together they built a life full of joy, laughter, and memories. They celebrated over 40 years of marriage and raised their son, Doug, in Morris Plains, New Jersey. Kenneth was a devoted family man who took great pride in his loved ones and in the home he created with Mayumi.
A man of diverse interests, Kenneth was passionate about music, particularly the works of Bob Dylan. He often traveled the world to see Dylan perform live, a testament to the deep connection he felt with the artist's music. His love for the arts extended to opera and classical music, and he found great joy in attending performances whenever he could.
In his free time, Kenneth enjoyed a multitude of hobbies including fishing, golfing, and reading. He was a lifelong sports fan, with a particular affection for the New York Giants and the New York Yankees, and could often be found cheering for his teams with enthusiasm. As a season ticket holder of the New York Giants, he spent many Sundays at the stadium enjoying games with his son Doug.
Kenneth was a kind and compassionate soul who touched the lives of everyone he encountered. He will be deeply missed by his wife Mayumi, his son Doug Wiley (Jessie), his grandchildren, Cooper and Carter, his sisters, Janice Miller (Mike), Gwen Wiley, Marilyn MacDonald (the late Douglas), as well as a wealth of extended family and friends. His legacy will live on in the countless memories he created and the love he shared.
A Funeral Service for Kenneth will be held on Wednesday, July 16, at 10 AM at the Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains. A graveside service will be held for close family the following day, July 17, at 11:30 AM at Hilltop Cemetery of Mendham Under the direction of Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ 07834. www.normandean.com.
