Obituary of Ronald Gilbert Hollender

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ronald Gilbert Hollender, a longtime Boonton resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Fallsview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Boonton Township, NJ.  He was 97.

Ronald was born in Morristown, NJ, in November 1927, to the late John Frederick Hollender and Esther Dorothea Follis.  He started his working life early, at the Harry Pinto Grocery Store in Cedar Knolls.  He later worked in a bronzing plant, then spent 28 years working for Boonton Molding Company, which made molded dinnerware out of melamine plastic, most famously Boontonware.  After retiring, he worked for local supermarkets, including the Foodtown in Boonton.

Ronald did everything on foot, whether walking to work or catching public transportation.  He liked to travel locally, often visiting his Morristown and Meyersville relatives.  Ronald enjoyed visiting his nieces and nephews in Massachusetts and Colorado. He even traveled overseas to see the sights in London and Hawaii. In his later years, Ronald volunteered at senior centers in the Montville-Denville area, helping with meals and calling bingo numbers.  He loved to socialize, often introducing himself to people he met while walking on the streets of Boonton.  Ronald was known for his sweet, affable nature and he will certainly be missed.

He leaves behind his son Kenneth R. Hollender; his granddaughters Tammy Bilgeshouse, Kim Hollender and Kelly Hollender; his grandsons Curtis Bailey, James Hollender and Kenneth Hollender, Jr.; his great-granddaughters Tara Lin and Ashley; his sisters Jane A. Hollender and Jean Hancock; and many nieces and nephews.  Ronald was preceded in death by his children, Linda Bailey, Dennis D. Hollender and Lloyd S. Hollender; and his siblings, Dorothea Gamble, John “Jackie” F. Hollender Jr., and M. Joyce Pike.

A Memorial will be held Saturday, July 26th from 2:00 to 4:00pm at Norman Dean Home for Services in Denville. Arrangements are provided by Codey & Mackey Funeral Home in Boonton.
