Obituary of Emilia Fiume
Emilia Fiume passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Morristown Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her devoted daughters. She was 91 years old and leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, boundless warmth, and treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Emilia was the beloved daughter of the late Fortunata (Clerico) and Nicholas Crimi, and one of four children in a close-knit Italian family. She graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1952, and in 1955, married the love of her life and best friend, Angelo D. Fiume. Together, they built a beautiful life in Rockaway Township, NJ, where they raised their two cherished daughters and created a home filled with laughter, love, and the comforting aroma of Emilia’s cooking.
Later in life, Emilia brought her warmth and grace to Tiffany & Co. in Parsippany, NJ, where she worked in the Customer Relations Department. She retired in 1997, leaving behind many friends who admired her kindness and professionalism.
Emilia had a gift for making every gathering feel special. She was the heart of every celebration—an exceptional cook and baker, most famous for her lasagna and unforgettable cheesecake. A gracious hostess, she made everyone feel welcome at her table. Summers were often spent at joyful neighborhood barbecues, with families gathering in a different backyard each week, sharing homemade dishes and laughter that echoed well into the evening.
Family meant everything to Emilia. She cherished trips to Brooklyn to visit relatives, where games, meals, and storytelling created lifelong memories. She instilled strong family values in her daughters, rooted in her proud Italian heritage. Holidays were magical in Emilia’s hands—from beautifully wrapped presents to festive meals, she poured her heart into every detail.
Though she made New Jersey her home in 1962, Emilia never lost her signature Brooklyn accent or her vibrant spirit. She and Angelo shared a love of travel, with Las Vegas holding a special place in their hearts. Emilia delighted in the fun of slot machines, especially during trips to Harrah’s and family getaways.
Her charm and wit were unmistakable, so much so that her family fondly remembers her unique phrases and quirks as “Emilia-isms.” These, along with her elegance, humor, and deeply generous spirit, will remain etched in the memories of those who loved her.
Above all, Emilia was a woman of deep faith, and the gift of that faith is one she passed on to her family—a source of comfort now, as she is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved Angelo, her parents, and her sister and brothers, Anne, Lou and Pete.
Emilia’s legacy lives on through her loving daughters, Susan Sacca of Rockaway, and Nadine Fiume and her longtime companion Brian Doroshuk of Denville; her adoring grandchildren, Gabriella Sacca and Luca Doroshuk; and her loyal dog, Brandy, who never left her side.
All services will be held privately. Emilia will be laid to rest beside her husband at Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum in East Hanover, NJ.
