Obituary of Martha Ann Gannon

Martha Ann Harrington Gannon, 81, of Dover NJ, passed away, peacefully in her sleep, on May 22nd, 2025.

 

Martha was born on February 1st, 1944 to Raymond and (Mary) Evelyn Farrell Harrington.

 

Martha attended Dennis B. O'Brien Elementary School and Morris Hills High School, where she served as an assistant to the High School Band. She was very proud to be able to travel with the band on their bus to all the away games, helping wherever she could.

 

July 19th, 1975 Martha married Richard J. Gannon.

 

She worked for a time in the kitchen, at the Picatinny Arsenal, in Rockaway Township, and later volunteered as an aide at Randolph Country Day School, Randolph, NJ. Martha always loved being with children and they always loved her. She had a gift for telling stories, playing games and keeping their attention.

 

Martha spent her final years at Morris View Healthcare Center, Morristown, NJ. There, she made many friends and continued helping other residents until she was no longer able. She was their ray of sunshine.

 

Martha was predeceased by her husband, Richard J. Gannon, of Morristown, NJ, her parents, Raymond and Mary Evelyn Farrell Harrington, her two brothers, Robert E. Farrell, Sr., James R. Farrell, Sr., nephew, James R. Farrell, Jr. and sister-in-law Mary Gannon. She is survived by mother-in-law Wilma Gannon; and sister-in-law Sharon Chambers; nieces and nephews, Robert E. Farrell, Jr., and wife Barbara; Richard J. Farrell, Robert F. Farrell, Sr. and wife Amy; cousin Sandy Hernandez; along with many great nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Martha was a member of the Bethlehem Church in Randolph. Martha will be laid to rest in First Reformed Church Cemetery, Pompton Plains, New Jersey on June 4, 2025 at 1:00pm. There will be a graveside service for friends and family. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Diabetes Foundation, Heart Association, or Kidney Fund.
