Obituary of Frank Giarratano

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Frank Giarratano, Sr., a devoted family man, proud veteran, and lifelong public servant, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, humble service, and unwavering love.

Born in Jersey City on October 27, 1934, to Edward and Henrietta Giarratano, Frank was raised alongside his beloved brother Edward, and his beloved sister Charlotte. From a young age, he demonstrated the values that would define his life: integrity, dedication, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Frank spent his career as a firefighter for the Union City Fire Department, courageously serving his community without fanfare. Though he never sought recognition for his work, his commitment and bravery were evident to all who knew him. Frank was also a homebuilder and small business owner. He served honorably in the United States Army, continuing a life marked by service to others.

Above all, Frank was a family man. He and his wife, Lucia, shared a deep and loving partnership and were blessed with two wonderful children. His love for his children was matched only by the joy he found in his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness. A long-time resident of Toms River, Frank found solace and adventure in nature, especially on the water. Whether boating and fishing with family, tinkering with home renovation projects, or cooking, he embraced life’s simple pleasures. His home and family were his sanctuary, and his care and generosity for friends and family were boundless.

Frank was also a previous member of the Knights of Columbus. In later years, Frank and Lucia moved to Rockaway Twp., NJ and he was a faithful parishioner at St. Simon the Apostle Church in Green Pond. His quiet faith and strong moral compass guided every chapter of his life. Frank will be remembered for his humility, his deep devotion to family, and his willingness to always lend a helping hand. His presence was a gift to those who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

If you would like to carry on Frank's memory in your own way, please consider making a charitable conrtibution to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital by way of St. Jude's.
