Obituary of James David Glennon

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James “Jim” David Glennon, 81, of Denville, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

Born and raised in Morristown, NJ, Jim was the son of the late James Francis and Margaret Mary (Reynolds) Glennon. He moved to Denville in 1972, where he built a life centered around family, service, and community.

A proud veteran, Jim honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he worked as a skilled pipefitter for Union Local #274 in Parsippany, NJ, retiring in the early 2000s.

Jim was known for his sharp wit, creative problem-solving, and for creating clever contraptions. He found joy in the outdoors, whether fishing in fresh or salt water, tending to his garden, or enjoying the flowers he grew with care. He cherished time spent along the Jersey Shore, particularly in Wildwood, Long Beach Island, and Manasquan. A proud Irish American, Jim was also a devoted New York Yankees fan. Above all, he treasured time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Glennon (2009), and his sister, Diane Glennon (1975).

Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Barbara Elaine (Grimes) Glennon; his beloved daughters: Beth (David) Bradley of Gilbertsville, PA; Cathy (Ken) Bienkowski of Denville; and Patti Glennon of Denville (Todd Hosier). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Emily Bradley, Grace Bradley and her fiancé Billy Jackson, Kylie Bienkowski, and Sean Bienkowski. He also leaves behind his granddog Griffin, many nieces and nephews, and dear friends who have become extended family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ, www.normandean.com. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 23, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville, NJ, followed by interment at Denville Cemetery.
