Obituary of Louise O'Boyle

Please share a memory of Louise to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louise O'Boyle, who left us on May 5, 2025, at the age of 77, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 12, 1947, in New York City to Arthur and Marie Cermola, Louise grew up in the Norwood section of the Bronx. It was there that she met the love of her life, John O'Boyle. The two were married in 1968, beginning a journey that would span more than thirty years. Together, they worked tirelessly to support John's business, Vanity Fair Bathmart, Inc., building a life filled with love and hard work.

In the years that followed, Louise and John made the decision to relocate to New Jersey, where Louise pursued her passion for helping others by continuing her education. She earned an Associate's Degree from County College of Morris, a decision that led her to a fulfilling career in nursing. Louise worked for many years at Dover General Hospital, where she touched the lives of countless patients. Her care, compassion, and dedication made her a beloved figure in the community, known for treating everyone she encountered with kindness and empathy.

Above all, Louise was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she took great joy in watching her two children grow and thrive. In later years, Louise became the proud grandmother of several grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She never missed an opportunity to attend their games, performances, or any event that allowed her to cheer them on and share in their joy. Her steadfast presence was a constant source of comfort and encouragement for her family.

Louise's warm and generous spirit extended to her culinary talents as well. She was an extraordinary cook, often preparing delicious Italian dishes that brought the whole family together around the table. These meals, filled with love and laughter, created cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

And though her passing brings us sadness, we take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with those who passed before her; her husband, John O’Boyle, and her parents, Arthur and Marie Cermola. It has now come time for her family to carry on her legacy of kindness and compassion without her. Louise is survived by her son, John O’Boyle (Liz) of Denville, NJ, her daughter, Marie O’Boyle (Dave Smith) of Brick, NJ, her grandchildren, John, Caroline, Daniel, and Natalia, as well as a wealth of extended family, friends, and neighbors who will remember her fondly.

If you would like to carry on Louise’s memory in your own way, please consider making a charitable contribution to either the Denville Food Pantry, or to Tracy’s Paws Rescue. Memorial donations can be made via inmemof.org.

Hours of public visitation for Louise will be held on Friday, May 9, from 5 to 8 PM at Norman Dean home for Services, with a graveside service to be held on Saturday, May 10, at 11:30 AM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, New Jersey. Please join us to celebrate her life, and leave a condolence, share a memory, or light a candle to continue to let Louise’s light shine!
