Obituary of Edward F. Jacko

Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Edward “Eddie” Jacko, beloved father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on April 27, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a passion for life lived on two wheels and six strings.

Born on December 18, 1970, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Eddie was the cherished son of Edward and Joyce Jacko. He grew up in a lively household with his four siblings, where his hands-on nature and mechanical mind began to take shape. After graduating high school, Eddie pursued a career in the automotive industry, earning a reputation as a skilled technician who could bring just about any engine back to life.

Eddie’s passion for mechanics extended beyond the shop floor—he found joy and freedom in motocross, both riding and watching races with his close friends. He was equally at home with a guitar in his hands, especially his acoustic. Classic rock was his soundtrack, and he loved learning and playing his favorite songs, occasionally plugging in the electric guitar to turn it up a notch.

Above all else, Eddie was a devoted father. He was blessed with two sons and a stepson, and his pride in them knew no bounds. He shared a special bond with them through basketball, coaching them in their early years and cheering them on from the sidelines at Morris Hills and Thomas Jefferson Middle School. Watching them play was one of his greatest joys. Eddie was also a lifelong fan of the New York Knicks, following the team with unwavering loyalty through every high and low.

Those who knew Eddie will remember his big heart, his mechanical genius, his music, and most of all, the deep love he had for his family. His memory will live on in the lives he touched and the lessons he passed on. His legacy is now carried on by the loved ones he leaves behind; his sons, Eddie Jacko Jr., Jake Jacko, his step-son, Jared Ackerman, his Father, Edward K. Jacko, his siblings, Tracey Gabriele (Al), Dawn Lazzari (Chris), April Hurley (Bill), Sean Jacko, and his pet companions, Maggie, Ozzy, Jack, Puppy, and Suzie.

In lieu of flowers if you would like to contribute to Eddie’s legacy in your own way, please consider making a donation to the Jacko Education Fund to ensure the Jacko boys can pursue their own educational goals past high school. Memorial donations can be made via inmemof.org
