Obituary of David J. Marra
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of David J. Marra, who left us unexpectedly on April 2, 2025, at his home in Egg Harbor, NJ. David was taken from us far too soon, and his absence leaves a profound void in the lives of all who knew him.
David was born to Ann and Peter Marra on March 23, 1965, in Denville, New Jersey. He was raised in Denville alongside his three brothers and graduated from Morris Knolls High School in 1983. From an early age, David showed an exceptional ability to work with his hands, and over the years, he developed a remarkable talent for woodworking. As a carpenter by trade, he was known for his skill, precision, and creativity. At home, David took great joy in crafting beautiful birdhouses that became a buffet for the birds just outside his window. His ability to transform a simple piece of wood into something extraordinary was a gift that reflected his care and attention to detail.
In addition to woodworking, David had a green thumb and was passionate about gardening, spending countless hours tending to his plants. His love for the outdoors also extended to fishing, golfing and skiing, hobbies that brought him joy and adventure throughout his life. He loved playing basketball with his nephews.
Above all, David cherished his family. He was a devoted son, a loving brother, and a dedicated uncle. His love for his family never wavered, and he supported them through life's challenges with unwavering devotion. David is survived by his parents, Peter and Ann Marra; his brothers, Steve Marra (Mari) and Peter Marra; his nephews, Michael Marra, Andrew Marra, and Christopher Marra; his cousin, John Marra; and many friends and neighbors who will remember him fondly for his kindness, warmth, and generosity. He is now reunited in paradise with his brother, Michael Marra, and his nephew, Alex (Alejandro) Marra. Though David’s spirit is now truly free, his memory will live on through the love he shared and the kindness he spread. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
