Mildred Jean Bennett passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home in Boca Raton, FL on March 19, 2025, at the age of 82. Mildred Jean was the daughter of the late Mildred (Docen) and Edward Schmidt. Mildred Jean, also known as Mil-Jean to many, was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ and spent summers at Indian Lake. Mil-Jean was married Edward Lynch, and together raised their family in Denville, NJ.

Mil-Jean had a very strong faith and was an active member of Advent Lutheran Church in Boca Raton where she enjoyed being a member of the adult bible study group and church choir. Later in life, Mil-Jean and Ray Cecere reconnected after many years and lived in Boca Raton. They eventually were married in the eyes of God as she would say until his passing in June of 2024.
Some of her fondest memories were being a grandma to her three wonderful grandchildren. Together they enjoyed doing crafts, playing guitar, creating puppet shows, baking, laughing at the kids on the famous slip and slide and going to Gumbo Limbo Park.
Mil-Jean is survived by her son, Douglas Lynch; her daughter and son-in-law Kimberly (Lynch) and Stephen Luger; her three grandchildren Jayme Lynch, Vanessa Lynch, Kristen (Luger) Shea and her husband Hunter; and her great-grandson Parker Stephen Shea. She is also survived by her cousins Richard Docen, Beverly Reynolds and David June as well as many wonderful friends. She is predeceased by her previous husband, Edward Lynch, her cousin Peggy Jane Whitmill, many aunts, uncles and lifelong friends.
Mil-Jean’s warm smile, caring heart and love for her family will be cherished forever. A church service was held at Advent Lutheran Church, 300 East Yamato Rd, Boca Raton, FL. Graveside services to be held this summer at Denville Cemetery, Denville, NJ. Donations to a charity of your choice in memory of Mil-Jean would be greatly appreciated.
