Obituary of Carol Stubbs

Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carol Stubbs passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home in Satellite Beach, FL on March 16, 2025, surrounded by the affection and light she created within her family. She had shared 82 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Born on June 23, 1942, in Jersey City to the late Nellie (Stapienski) and Michael Schott, Carol was the youngest of four children and grew up with a deep adoration for her family and life’s simple joys. A proud graduate of The Academy of St. Aloysius High School in 1960, Carol’s life was defined by admiration, dedication, and an unwavering devotion to those she held dear. On June 22, 1964, she married her best friend, John Stubbs, and together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and adventures. They started their family in Ridgefield, NJ, before moving to Washington Township, where they raised their three children. In 1977, Carol’s dream came true as they settled in Blairstown, NJ, just in time to spend Christmas in their new home.

A beach enthusiast at heart, Carol cherished the memories made with her family at Point Pleasant, Manasquan Beach, and Greenwood Lake, NY. Her respect for the water and its calming beauty remained a constant throughout her life. Carol was also a true partner to her husband John, working alongside him in his business, Northeastern Leasing Company, before establishing her own venture, Video Sights and Sounds, which she ran with passion for nearly a decade.

In 1996, Carol earned her Real Estate License, working as a dedicated Realtor for Caldwell Banker in Chester, NJ, a profession she continued with pride until her passing.

After the passing of her beloved husband John in 2001, Carol moved to Florida, where she had spent part of her year since 1989. In Florida, she became an active member of the Silver Sands Condominium Association and enjoyed staying connected to her community through her fitness group at Curves in Satellite Beach.

Carol’s zest for life was reflected in the joy she found in music, especially from the 50s and 60s, her deep Catholic faith, and her pure joy for flowers and the ocean. She took great delight in hosting gatherings at her home, always creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for family and friends. She was meticulous in organizing her home and making sure everything was just right, decorating for every occasion – a true testament to her hospitable and caring nature. She was selfless, often giving to animal shelters and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Above all, Carol was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Her family was the center of her world, and she will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the countless memories she created with those who loved her. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited her husband, her parents, her siblings, Eleanor, Mickey, and Henny, and her faithful pups, Merlot, Cocoa, and King.

Carol leaves only happy memories to her adored children, Walter (Liz) Stubbs of Point Pleasant, NJ, John S. (Brandi Teabo) Stubbs, Jr. of Mascotte, FL, and Michele (Douglas) Fischer of Denville, NJ; her cherished grandchildren, Sophie Fischer, Douglas Fischer, Gracie Stubbs, John S. Stubbs III, and Madison Stubbs; and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who were fortunate to know her.

Relatives and friends are welcome to visit with the family on Wednesday, March 26th, from 4-8 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 27th at 10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville, NJ. Burial will follow at Denville Cemetery in Denville, NJ.

In addition to the unforgettable memories held by her family, we invite those who knew Carol to share their favorite stories, memories, or words of tribute on normandean.com. Carol touched the lives of many, and we believe her legacy is best honored through the stories and experiences of all who were fortunate enough to know her; let her light shine bright for eternity. If you would like to honor her memory another way, donations are being accepted to the Sea Turtle Conservancy by clicking here.
