Obituary of Bonnie Marie Pumilia Katz (née Kominiak)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bonnie Marie Pumilia Katz (nee, Kominiak), who left us peacefully on February 20, 2025, at RWJ University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, at the age of 72. Bonnie’s life was defined by her unwavering love for her family, her kindness, and the countless cherished memories she created for those fortunate enough to know her.
Born on April 22, 1952, in Morristown, to John and Marie Kominiak, Bonnie grew up in Denville, raised her three boys in Dover and Sparta, and was most recently residing in Old Bridge. She graduated from Morris Knolls High School and went on to work in various roles throughout her life. Ultimately, Bonnie’s true calling was being a devoted mother.
To Bonnie, family was everything. She found joy in being with her loved ones, and especially enjoyed memorable family vacations to Wildwood and being together during the holidays. Bonnie also dearly loved her two dogs, Eddie and Cody, who brought her great comfort and happiness. More than anything though, Bonnie loved being a grandmother. She cherished every moment with each of them.
Bonnie was an avid reader, always curious to learn more and enjoyed books of all genres. Bonnie also had a terrific sense of humor and wit that always made those around her smile. Her radiant personality and loving heart will be deeply missed by all those who had the opportunity to experience it.
In her later years, Bonnie met her true love, Bobby Katz and married in 2019. Though their time together was brief, they shared countless adventures and memories that will forever be treasured.
She is survived by her beloved husband Bobby, her three sons, Anthony John Pumilia, Michael Pumilia (Jamie), Adam Pumilia (Allison), her grandchildren, Dominick Pumilia, Arlette Pumilia, her stepdaughter Jolie Bennaim (Shay), her step-grandchildren, Jordan & Jessie Bennaim, Wyatt & Caden Cassidy, and her siblings, Mary Lee Faccenda (Gary), and John Kominiak (Alicia), and several nieces and nephews. A life well-lived, Bonnie’s spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those who were lucky enough to be a part of it. She is now reunited in Heaven with her parents; John and Marie Kominiak and her sister, Sue Ann Kramer.
A cause that was near and dear to Bonnie was in supporting those afflicted with traumatic brain injuries. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey via inmemof.org.
Hours of public visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26th from 4 PM to 6 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ. All are welcome to come and celebrate the life of this incredible woman.
