Obituary of Carolyn Lois Ford
Carolyn Lois Ford, 77, of Hopatcong, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025,
at Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and
cherished memories with all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Carolyn was born on April 7, 1947, in Prospect Park, NJ, to Clarence and Lenora Brain. She was
raised alongside her sister, Lenora. Carolyn's early years were defined by hard work, tenacity,
and a deep commitment to her family; values she carried throughout her life.
For many years, Carolyn worked as an executive assistant at Berlex Laboratories, now part of the
Bayer Corporation. She was known for her dedication and unwavering work ethic.
Carolyn was the proud mother of four wonderful children, whose love she cherished endlessly,
always putting her family first ensuring their needs were met. The joy in her heart only grew
when she was blessed with grandchildren, filling her life with laughter and pride. Family was
everything to Carolyn, and her home was a gathering place where memories were made.
Holidays, especially, were a time for Carolyn to showcase her love through cooking delicious
meals and baking cookies and pies with her beloved grandchildren.
Her nurturing spirit and creative talents extended into every corner of her life. Carolyn was often
found with her extensive tool collection working on home repairs and improvements. She had a
unique ability to breathe new life into forgotten pieces of furniture, turning them into stunning
works of art with her refurbishing skills. Carolyn’s talent didn’t end there—she was an avid
painter, creating intricate murals that brought beauty to every space she touched.
Known for her love of gardening, Carolyn’s deck became a sanctuary of lush plants and vibrant
flowers, reflecting the warmth and beauty of her glowing personality. Her green thumb and
artistic eye created an oasis for all to enjoy, and though she may be gone, the beauty she created
in this world will last for years to come.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband R. Glenn Ford. Together Carolyn and
Glenn enjoyed 28 years of love, family and the joy of watching their grandchildren grow.
Carolyn was lucky to find love again with her husband, Dennis Kohrherr. The couple married in
a spontaneous trip to Mystic, Connecticut, at the Mystic Aquarium, with Floyd, the beluga
whale, as witness. Together, Dennis and Carolyn enjoyed traveling, with their European cruises
being a particular highlight of their adventures.
Carolyn's legacy of love, hard work, creativity, and family devotion will forever be remembered.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Dennis Kohrherr, her four children; Christine Halter,
Karen Buchanan (David), Kathy Longeill (Michael Piepho), Carl Halter (Patricia), her cherished
grandchildren; Corey Halter, Matthew Buchanan, Kimberly Lewin (Jake), Kaitlyn Halter, CJ
Halter, Collin Longeill, Sara Halter, Robert Jaime Arthur (Sydney), Billy Longeill, her great
grandchild; Hawthorne Ellis Author, her step-children; Karen Strout (David), Susan Kohrherr
(Rob Magrino), Dennis Kohrherr (Katherine), her step-grandchildren; Sarah Strout, Allison
Strout, Ethan Kohrherr, Owen Kohrherr, her sister, Lenora Manzoni (Robert), as well as many
nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
If you would like to continue Carolyn’s memory in your own way, please consider making a
charitable contribution to the West Milford Special Olympics Program, as Carolyn was deeply
