Obituary of Jeffrey Smith
Jeffrey “Jeff” Smith passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 72. Over the years, he shared his love, laughter, wisdom, and unforgettable memories with his family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and generosity.
Born in St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ to Mary Courter and the late Harold Smith, Jeff was one of six children to bless the Smith household. He grew up in Iselin, NJ, where he forged lasting bonds with his siblings and created memories that would shape his life. Jeff graduated from JFK High School in the class of 1971 and immediately began his professional journey with an unwavering commitment to hard work. Starting in the technology industry with Siemans in Iselin, NJ; he then transitioned to telecommunications sales in New York City before retiring as a Truck Driver with Braun’s Express in Cranbury, NJ.
In 2009, Jeff married his best friend, Judi. Together, they shared over 30 years of joy and adventure, making memories on many vacations, including their treasured annual trips down the shore.
A passionate NASCAR and Sprint car racing enthusiast, Jeff’s love for racing was deeply rooted in his family. His brothers and father were both race car drivers, fueling his own love for the sport. He was a true "man's man," never shying away from tinkering around the house or fixing his own vehicles. But more than his skills, it was his ability to connect with others that left the biggest mark. Jeff had a rare gift of making people laugh in any situation. Whether you were family or a stranger, he would offer his help and care without hesitation, and his generous spirit touched everyone he met. He was compassionate, dependable, and, above all, HILARIOUS!
Jeff’s memory lives on in the hearts of his devoted wife Judi Smith; his loving children, Jeffrey (Katie) Smith and Timothy (Tamara) Smith; his loving step-daughter, Beverly (Frank) Lepre; his cherished grandchildren, Adrianna, Sienna, Michael, Sal, and Jaclyn; his doting siblings, Kathy Derling, Tom (Beverly) Smith, Terry (Ed) Davids, and Doug (Andrea) Smith; his many nieces and nephews whom he adored; and many dear extended family and friends.
In accordance with his wishes, all services will be private. Memorial donations in Jeff’s name are being accepted by the Disabled American Veterans at www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation. Please light a candle, leave a condolence, or share your favorite memory of Jeff here to continue to celebrate his life and let his radiance shine on.
