Obituary of Hector Manuel Ortiz

Please share a memory of Hector to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hector Manuel Ortiz, who left us on February 6, 2025, at the age of 82. Hector was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, known for his kind heart, sharp mind, and passion for life. He brought joy and warmth to everyone he met and will be remembered for his unwavering generosity and infectious spirit.

Hector was a man of many talents, with a remarkable gift for crafting and fixing anything with his hands. Whether it was repairing a broken appliance or creating something entirely new, his meticulous attention to detail made every project an expression of his artistry. His family and friends will forever recall how he could solve any problem, often with a solution that was as elegant as it was practical.

His skill as a handyman extended far beyond fixing the physical world; Hector was a fixer of hearts too, always there for those in need with a listening ear, a helping hand, or words of wisdom. His generosity knew no bounds, and he always went the extra mile for others. Whether it was lending tools, offering a ride, or sharing his vast knowledge, Hector's spirit of service was ever-present.

Hector’s style and presence were equally unforgettable. He was known for always dressing sharp, with his signature hats and jewelry reflecting his bold personality. No matter the occasion, he exuded confidence and flair, making a lasting impression on all who encountered him. His taste for fashion and elegance was matched only by his warmth and genuine care for those around him.

A lifelong New York Yankees fan, Hector’s passion for the game was a constant source of joy, and his stories of the team’s glory days were cherished by his loved ones. His enthusiasm for baseball mirrored his approach to life—full of dedication, excitement, and a love for the things that mattered most to him.

Above all, Hector’s true legacy lies in the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. His kindness, patience, and devotion to his loved ones will never be forgotten. He was the heart and soul of his family, a role model who showed what it means to live with integrity and love. His laughter, stories, and unwavering support will be dearly missed.

Hector is survived by his children and grandchildren, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, and generosity that will continue to inspire those who knew him. His spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched.

Although we are saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved wife of 50 years, Norma Ortiz. Left to keep his legacy alive is his loving children, Alex Ortiz and his wife Olga of Dover, Hector Ortiz and his wife Kathy of Dover, Marlene Ortiz-Perez, Hector Ortiz of Puerto Rico, and Marisol Ortiz of Florida; his cherished grandchildren, Alexia, Kevin, Angelina, Justin, Arianna, Ava, Amaiya, Annalie, and Iyla; and many siblings, extended family, and friends.

Relatives and friends are welcome to come and honor Hector on Tuesday, February 11th from 3 – 7 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ. A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, February 12th at 10:00 am at St. Cecilia Church, 90 Church Street, Rockaway NJ.

In addition to the beautiful memories held by his family, we invite those who knew Hector to share their favorite stories, memories, or words of tribute on normandean.com. Hector touched the lives of many, and we believe his legacy is best honored through the stories and experiences of all who were fortunate enough to know him; let his light shine bright for eternity.
