



Obituary of Edward C. Ryaness
Edward C Ryaness, “Eddie”, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family in Denville, NJ on February 2, 2025, at the age of 86. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.
Edward was born on October 14, 1938, in Jersey City, NJ. He was a proud US Army Veteran, serving during peacetime in Germany. Edward spent the majority of his career working in shipping and receiving at Siemans, retiring in 2007. On October 8, 1967, he married the love of his life, Catherine (Moylan) Ryaness. Their love and commitment to each other were a beautiful example of devotion and partnership. Together, they raised their family in Denville, NJ and created a home filled with love, warmth, and joy.
Edward was a man of quiet generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand and share a kind word. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren. He took pride in being actively involved in their lives and was their biggest supporter.
Outside of his family life, Edward had a passion for collecting old western memorabilia, a testament to his love of country western films and books. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was young at heart, always staying active and engaged in the things he loved.
Edward will be deeply missed by his daughter, Mary Ferrone and her husband Michael, his grandchildren, Siena and Nathan, his in law’s, Joseph Giacona (the late Carol), Anastasia (Dan) Sweet, Margaret (the late Robert) Weber, Mary (Jeremiah) Mullins, Thomas (AnnMarie) Moylan, Melody (the late Edward) Moylan, Patricia (Keith) Tanner; and his many nieces, nephew and extended family. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
When he arrived at Heaven’s gates, he was greeted by his wife Catherine, his parents, Felix and Elva Ryaness, and is sister Carol Giacona.
Hours of public visitation for Edward will be held on Thursday, February 6, from 3 to 7 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 7, at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Myer’s Ave, Denville, with a graveside service to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery of North Arlington.
