Obituary of Eugene P. Mini

Please share a memory of Eugene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Eugene Mini passed away on January 28th with his family by his side. He was born on April 28th 1941 in Brooklyn, New York to Vincent J. Mini and Philomena (Lauro) Mini. He was the youngest of 10 children.

He leaves behind his wife Ann (Skillman) Mini, his daughter Ann (Mini) Ilic, his grandchildren Megan Mini, Anthony Ilic and Christopher Ilic. His son Phillip Mini passed away in 2001, and his granddaughter Lauren Mini in 2018. He was the owner of All Services Mechanical & Electrical in Boonton NJ. Besides owning a business, he devoted his life to the betterment of the Electrical Industry and his community; 45 awards and accolades adorn the walls of his office. He belonged to the Independent Electrical Contractors, a national trade organization of Electrical Contractors. They hold a yearly convention with educational seminars and a convention hall trade show at various cities throughout the United States for the membership and guests that would like to attend. Meetings of the 53 nationwide chapters and committees are held throughout the year to keep members up-to-date with happenings in the industry.

He served through the ranks of the "IEC" and was elected National President, receiving the "Man of the Year Award". He was Vice-Chairman of the Foundation of this organization. The Foundation operates schools to train electricians throughout the country. No funding from the Government is accepted, all funds to operate these schools are raised through national membership. He was on zoom meetings with members of the Foundation Committee addressing the oversight of these schools. He worked nationally with the lEC to help pass the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003. (The Bush Tax Cuts.) For this, he attended the signing of the bill into law in the Oval Office with President George W. Bush. A letter signed by President Bush thanking him hangs on his office wall. Also, an American Flag was flown over the United States Capital and presented to him for his achievements. In his office are 2 Proclamations from the Mayor's Office, Town of Boonton, one honoring the Kiwanis Club for their 50 years of service and establishing the ambulance squad, and recognition of its members. Eugene served as President of the Kiwanis Club. The other was thanking him for contributing outstanding and dependable service to the Town of Boonton. This included supplying the electrical work for Santaland, an electrical service for the new Senior Citizens/Archives building at no cost, loaning the town his bucket truck as needed, and installing the Christmas lights and decorations on Main Street. Also, a New Jersey State Senate Resolution, along with a New Jersey State Assembly Citation, and Congratulations from The Morris County Board of Chösen Freeholders upon receiving the Eagle Award from the Tri County Chamber of Commerce. Also, there are letters of recognition of his accomplishments from Governor Tom Kean and the IEC Membership.

He was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. He had a warm personality and was a "people person". The door was always open, enjoying get-togethers, a great conversation, and a good meal, (he loved Ann's meatloaf)! With all the good food he could have, he always asked for meatloaf. Being with his grandchildren brought him great happiness, he was proud of them. He was also a great cook. During the past year he was mourning the loss of his dog Lily, his constant companion. Lily was 18 years old. Despite his poor health, he was at his desk every day with a cup of black coffee nearby. He did what he wanted to do every day, living life the way he wanted. His first concern was for his family and his business, not thinking of himself. "Gene, All Services Mechanical & Electric is continuing the business operations by your family and staff." The business was started 54 years ago by Gene and his father Vincent J Mini. We are now in the third generation and will continue your legacy. It was not all work and no play. He was Owner and Manager of the Boonton Bears Semi-Pro Football Team. He was on his way to San Antonio, Texas to receive a "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the lEC when he had a medical episode on the airplane, and it landed in Washington DC. He was taken to a nearby hospital, as he passed away Fox News, his favorite news program, was on the air.

A visitation will take place on Saturday February 22nd at the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave, Denville, NJ from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a service of Faith and Celebration of his Life. All tributes to his memory can be made to the IEC Foundation in Memory of Gene Mini, PO Box 1015, Monroeville, PA 15146 or by clicking here. He was loved by family and friends. Godspeed Gene Mini, you will be missed.
