Obituary of John Lewis Amato
John Lewis Amato passed away peacefully at Morristown Memorial Hospital on January 27, 2025, at the age of 90.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, to John and Elena (D’Ambrosio) Amato, he grew up in Brooklyn and later lived in Long Island, NY, then moved to Mount Arlington with his wife Lillian in 2005 before moving to Dover, NJ in 2023.
John was the proud owner and operator of "Fantastic Mind" advertising agency in Long Island, NY, for over 40 years, a venture he cherished before retiring in 2005.
He was a man of many passions—enjoying time spent tending to his plants, playing slot machines, cooking meals for his loved ones, and exploring the world of interior design. However, what he cherished most was the time spent with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy and fulfillment.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Lillian M. Amato in 2017.
John is survived by his loving daughters Lisa A. Amato and Gina Amato. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren Christina and Gabriel Batiz, Alicia and Michael Esposito and Nicholas and Christopher Roberts, as well as his cherished great grandchildren Derek and Nolan Batiz and Lucas Esposito, and his daughter in Law Jody Holden.
Private services were held under the direction of Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834. www.normandean.com.
