Dear Carol and family, We are deeply saddened over Augie's passing. You were wonderful neighbors and friends. Augie's smiling face across the street was always welcoming. It was a joy to share in your 50th anniversary and likewise to have you share in ours. Our visits were not as often as we'd like but what we shared was genuine friendship. One of our fondest memories is the deep love you always expressed for one another. We grieve for you and this great loss. But oh what memories you've shared and the life you've lived together. I was in drum corps with Donna, daughter of "Auggie." My dad was also a NJ State Trooper and always referred to Donna's Dad by that nickname. Donna was the only other person I knew in my life whose father was also a State Trooper! Donna, I am so very sorry for your loss. I never knew your Dad personally, but when my Dad spoke of yours, he always was so complimentary. I was touched to read that your Dad made cribs for your children; what a gift! I met Mr. Augie Wistner as a reporter when he was a State Trooper, and I always thought of him as an intensely honorable, caring and fun person. While working as an arson specialist for the State police, he took the time to explain facets of his specialty to me for stories. Our paths crossed over the years and I even came across him fishing once. He made a wonderful, caring impression on me, and I am very sorry for your loss. It sounds as though he was deeply loved. Augie and Carol, we sure had some great times together. Uncle Mikey's Pizza and Twister's Ice Cream in Myrtle Beach with Bill, Louise and the gang. We will cherish those happy moments forever. Oh, and by the way, I am still sorry I took your convertible through the car wash. Look at the bright side, the inside got clean too! Don't worry Troop, I've got things covered down here, Bill and I will always have your back. Carol, you are part of our Myrtle Beach family. We will be there for you. Carol, Donna, Steve and Cathy we are so so sorry for your loss. Augie was such a dear friend to our family and especially dad.
