Obituary of Frances M. Rossback

Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Frances M. Rossback, recently of Denville, formerly of West Coxsackie, NY, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville.  She had shared 95 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Born in Manhattan and raised in Queens, NY, to the late Nicholas and Mary, she was one of two children to bless their household.  She graduated from Long Island City High School, Class of 1944.  She made a successful career for herself as a File Clerk and Secretary, having worked for many companies throughout NYC.  Frances retired in 2006 at the young age of 80, from GNH Lumber, Inc. in Greenville, NY, after over 10 years of service.

She began a family of her own with Edward Rossback, in Long Island City.  Together they had four children.  Whenever shopping, if her children ever got separated from her, they could always find her by waiting for her to laugh, which was never a long wait!

In 1988, she married a loving partner in Sal Santonastaso, who she originally met in her younger days as he and his brother Johnny ran a local butcher shop.  They lived blissfully in Medusa, NY, until Sal’s untimely passing.

When Frances wasn’t taking care of her household or grandchildren, you could find her crocheting, reading, or playing cards.  Every Tuesday, when she lived in Bethany Village, Frances enjoyed playing Canasta with her friends.

She was the greatest wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, caregiver, and friend that anyone could ever wish for.  Left to continue her legacy are her loving children, Richard (Alice) Rossback, Stephen (Kathy) Rossback, and Doreen (John) Fusco; her cherished grandchildren, David (Laura), Destiny (Scott), Keith (Christie), Melody (Conor), Dana (Steven), Kyle (Elizabeth), Collin, Keri (Christopher), and Drew; her treasured great-grandchildren, Brian, Christopher, Kaya, Lily, Samantha, Derek, Kaylee, Emma, and Aria; her loving bonus children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Sal (Debra) and family, Anthony (Debbie) and family, Verbena, Kenny, Colm, Aisling, John, Jr. (Valentina) and family, Janiel and Anthony; and many more dear extended family and friends – too many to be named here but loved and cherished.

Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her parents, her beloved husbands, Edward and Sal, her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Anne, her eldest son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Linda, and her bonus son, Kenny.  She will be forever missed and remembered in our hearts and memories.

Services will be held at Grace Church on the Mount, 758 Route 10, Randolph, NJ, on Sunday, September 11, at 2 p.m.  Memorial donations are being accepted to GCD (Greene County Department) of Human Services, In memory of Frances Rossback for HDM-home delivery meals, by way of www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Frances here to continue to celebrate the incredible life she led.

Additional Celebration of Life services will be held in Coxsackie, NY, and Pinelawn National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.  Details to be provided at a later date.
