Meredith Marguerite Meloney Olver, longtime resident of Rockaway NJ, passed quietly on March 6, 2019 at the age 67 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
As the daughter of a Methodist minister, she was raised in various towns across northern New Jersey. She and her husband settled in Rockaway Township in 1981.
Meredith earned her Bachelor’s degree from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa majoring in French with a minor in Library Information Sciences and History. Books were one of her passions and she worked as a librarian for over 40 years beginning her career in New York City. She worked in the public libraries of Rockaway and Denville Township since 1993.
Meredith, or Mere as most knew her, had many passions, but none stronger than family. Her home and heart were always filled with memories of times spent together. She celebrated those memories with a thoughtful note, card or gift. Mere was very supportive and proud of her family and extended family. When she wasn’t baking and cooking for a family gathering, she enjoyed reading, singing in the church choir, playing bells and volunteering for the United Methodist Women. Summers at the family cottage in New Hampshire were treasured times. She was very fond of watching and feeding the wildlife, and, of course, her two dogs. Flowers and houseplants also brought her great joy.
She was predeceased by her much loved parents Rev. Robert E. Meloney in 2008 and Marguerite E. “Gretchen” Meloney in 2009.
Meredith is survived by her loving husband Clark of 40 years, her daughters Caitlin Olver and Megan Olver Siok, Caitlin’s fiancé David Stanford and Megan’s husband Matthew Siok, her younger brother Kirk and his wife Jean Meloney of NH, nephew Nathan and his wife Amanda Young of VT and their children and niece Laura Meloney. She is also remembered by her faithful companions, rescue dogs, Sassy and Rusty
A service to celebrate her life and love will be held at the Denville Community Church, 190 Diamond Spring Road, Denville, NJ 07834 on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 11:30.
Memorial donations in her memory can be made to: Orphaned Pets, West Caldwell, NJ by way of inmemof.org.
