I am so deeply sorry for his passing. Ever since we were kids, Sal was always kind and mild mannered. Although we haven't seen each other often over the years, he was my loving cousin and there was always a special place in my heart for him. May you rest in peace, Sal, until we see each other again.
Q: How did you meet Salvatore?
A: I met cousin Sal in his early twenties. I am actually his cousin through marriage. My wife is Geri DiPiazza Ragsdale. Sal loved to laugh and he made others laugh too. We hit it off immediately. He was always joking around. I think he owned the phrase “pass the jelly” on the trip to California when I met him first. That phrase has stood the test of time in our house. We have used it for decades to mean everything possible except for actually passing the jelly. I remember admiring him for the way he faced his challenges without complaining. He worked hard, loved his family and fought his illness like a lion. I wish I could have spent more time with him. My most favorite memory is when we flew out to New Jersey and spent a whole week with Sal and Ronnie. I am so glad for our time together. You will be missed. Rest in Peace.
Q: What will you never forget about Salvatore?
A: My beautiful Cousin Sal, I will never forget all the wonderful childhood memories we have of you. You were such a character. I can still remember you riding up and down the streets of your neighborhood .and you would use your sneakers to brake. You wore your sneakers out. I remember laughing out loud at the sight of those poor worn out sneakers. My other favorite memory of you was at Christmas time when you and my brother Sal were crushing candy canes with the sliding glass door in the den. Your dad caught you in the act needless to say he was not very happy but we sure got a laugh out of it. Your memories will stay with us forever. You had the sweetest smile and the kindest heart. Words cannot describe the feeling of losing you. Rest in peace cousin in heaven till we meet again.
Though you were my cousin by blood, you were my brother by heart. No matter how much time passed, when we reconnected, it’s like we picked up right where we left off, as if time stood still. The love and connection we shared never faded. I’ll always cherish the memories we made and the laughs we shared and I’ll miss you every day. Though you’re no longer here, your bold spirit lives in my heart. Rest in peace, dear cousin. Until we meet again.
