I remember sleeping over at the Scotch Plains house while Marie was not going to be there, to stay with Maria. I received my own personal mini bar of soap which I thought was a neat idea and something I now do at my house. Marie had tacked notes around the house with messages such as turn off light, turn off oven., etc. You get the idea. The only note missing was one telling us not to barbeque in the garage it was Jan. after all. Maria was working on the July issue of Woman's Day. Smoke coming from the garage caused the fire dept to stop by! When it was time for me to go home, Marie insisted on taking me to the gas station on Rte 22 and talked the attendant into filling my car even though it was not my day to receive gas. (Gas rationing due to oil embargo)
